Ovis Labs helps outdoor businesses figure out what needs to happen next — then helps make it happen.
New business · New product · Stalled growth · Untapped opportunity
Most businesses don’t need more marketing. Something specific is holding them back, and until you know what it is, spending more rarely helps.
The problem decides the work — not the other way around.
Most work moves through these four stages. Where you start depends on how much you already know.
Before you spend more on marketing, we look at the whole business. Then we find the one thing holding it back most, and put everything else in order behind it.
We go from plan to finished work without handing it off to another team. A plan is useful. Finished work is better.
New companies, brands, physical products, software, and major new offers, taken from idea → product → brand → market → customer.
Once something works, we help you do it again and again. The goal isn’t more marketing. It’s more of what works.
Ovis Labs is led by Brad Carter, an outdoor-industry entrepreneur and operator with experience across ecommerce, retail, manufacturing, media, hospitality, guided experiences, physical products, memberships, and software.
I’ve dealt with the same things clients deal with: products that have to sell, inventory that has to move, websites that have to convert, launches that have to work, and businesses that eventually have to make money.
Before Ovis Labs I was EVP of Marketing for Bronze Buffalo Ranch — a multi-entity outdoor hospitality company in the Tetons spanning a lodge, sporting club, golf, and guided adventure.
That experience changes the question.
What marketing should we do?
What does this business need next?
Ovis Labs is the operating studio inside Westerne, a Wyoming holding company that builds, owns, and operates businesses across outdoor products, commerce, media, software, and experiences.
We build and grow Westerne’s own companies — and work with a select number of outside businesses facing the same problems. The work is the same either way.
Visit Westerne →These are Westerne companies — owned by Westerne and built by us. They aren’t a portfolio we put together to look good. They’re where the experience came from, and each one covers different ground.
We don’t sell you a website, a rebrand, an ad campaign, or a software build before we know what’s actually wrong. Ovis Labs stays small on purpose, so you work straight with the person who finds the problem, decides what to do, and helps build it.
The goal is to make the business better — not make the engagement bigger.
Most businesses start with a teardown, because what it finds shapes everything after it.
A full review of the business and how it grows, then a 90-day plan in the order that matters most. Find what’s working, what isn’t, and what to fix first.
Start with a teardown →One meaningful thing, shipped. A site rebuild, brand work, a funnel, software — or a complete product, brand, or business launch taken from idea to first customer.
Scope a sprint →Ongoing help from one senior person who ties brand, product, marketing and execution together — and helps you decide what happens next.
Talk about a partnership →Let’s figure that out first.
Whether you’re starting something, launching something, or stuck somewhere in between — tell me what’s going on. We’ll work out whether Ovis Labs is the right tool for the problem.
